Friday 19th August

What we did today:

Wow - what a great day! Jack and Jill were so impressed by the fabulous costumes today - well done everyone! The students all had so much fun, and I think we all agreed that the new sports complex was a fabulous venue for such events.

It was lovely to see so many grandparents in here and to have a talk to them all. Sienna's grandmother told me about Sienna's traditional Austrian girls dress that she bought from Austria - complete with stockings. Sienna came as Gretel, complete with a 64 year old traditional Austrian Hansel and Gretel book and some Austrian bread to leave as crumbs. The book was published right after World War II and it was the first book that Sienna's grandmother received after the War. It's so old that it doesn't even have publishing details or dates on the inner cover.

Cameron Bigg's space suit was from the Kennedy Center in the United States. He looked great also. We had King Arthur, Jiminy Cricket, Cowgirls, Hannah Montana, Harry Potter(s), Stephen the Skeleton....the list goes on and on.

Needless to say, days like today are very special for our grandparents and their grandchildren. A very big thank you to the families (including grandparents) for their tremendous efforts today.

There is a bookmark in everyone's locker to celebrate Book Week. The homework that was handed in today was marked and returned to those students who were here after lunch. We didn't do a spelling test (no time) and no readers were changed today. These will go home on Monday.

Reminder: Afternoon session from today will be held on Monday afternoon. We will still have next Friday's session on Friday.

Enjoy your weekend everyone. We'll see you all on Monday morning.
