Wednesday 27th July

What we did today:

In Spelling Mastery we were focusing on words that have an 'ea' sound eg: leaf, repeat, leave.

In English we were focusing on the 'Resolution' which is the solution and ending of a story. Again, if you are reading a story tonight it would be a good idea to try to get your child to recognise where the story changes from being in the 'Complication (problem)' phase to the 'Resolution' phase. Your child should be able to recognise this.

In Maths today we recalled shape facts and the children were able to draw different shapes from simple clues that were given ie "I have 3 sides and 3 corners...I am a?" Shapes covered included triangle, circle, oval, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon and octagon. Children were able to recognise similarities and differences relating to these shapes as well. They worked very hard in our double Maths lesson. We did find a 50c piece in the room and found out that it has 12 sides. The children were set the task of finding out the name of this shape tonight (if they are interested).

We had a fire evacuation at 10:20am just to make sure  the children are familiar with the process in the unlikely event of an evacuation. The rest of the day we were at Worship, then Science with Mrs Fernandez.

2S Superstar of the Day Award: Jayden K

Well done Jayden. I didn't have to ask Jayden to stop talking once and he displayed beautiful manners all day long. He was also very respectful to his teachers and peers as well as completing his work in a timely and tidy manner. Well done Jayden - you had a great day.

Don't forget: Disco money can be paid to Primary Reception. Cost is $5 per student. Year 2 disco is from 5:30-6:30am - let's boogie!!!!

It might be a good idea to start thinking about a costume for your child for Book Week which is in week 6 of term.

Enjoy the rest of your day,

Katie Watson
